not another sunday morning
Lord, I long that this would not be another Sunday morning.
Let not the good people get up, after eight hours of peaceful sleep.
Let not the bad people wake up with nausea, rumpled clothes and vague sense of shame.
Let not the good people grumble about the noise down the alley the night before.
Let not the bad people feel alone, after having so many friends the night before.
Let not the good people put on their nice and modest clothes.
Let not the bad people feel judgmental eyes focused on their attire.
Let not the good people go to church and learn to be wary of the bad people.
Let not the bad people go to a 2 PM breakfast and learn that they are not wanted by the good people.
Lord, let there be no more good people and bad people. May we all be your people.
You see bones? You see sin, alcoholism, bed hopping, depression.
God sees an army, worthy by grace, to be of His service.
You see bones? You see judgment, hypocrisy, fear, self protection.
God sees an army, worthy by grace, to be of His service.
Lord, please bring your resurrection and healing to our city! No more good people and bad people. No more lines that divide. Jesus, reconcile us all to you! Give us your love! Lord, we are impotent to change anything. We don't have the ability to change one heart, in or out of the church walls. We need you Spirit...change our city! Change our normal! Change this place! We are desperate and completely dependent on You!
